Zena of “Aladdin (2019)”

Aladdin is a film that follows the story of a young man who is orphaned at a young age and must fend for himself. Zena is a deleted character from the film who was Aladdin’s mother. She passed away prior to the events of the film, but her youth is briefly explored in the Aladdin comic story, The Mysterious Amulet.

Unlike other Evronians, Zoster has an unusually strong individualism, so he sometimes may act for his own personal goals, and not so much for his people, unlike other members of the emotion-eating species.

Zoster first appears in the issue Ombre su Venere (Shadows On Venus); the Chief Physician has an important mission: allow the Evronian race to exploit negative emotions (generated by hate, resentment, envy…). He needs a guinea pig to test his experiments so, with help of General Zondag’s soldiers, kidnaps Angus Fangus, a real concentration of such emotions. His plan falls in pieces, however, due to the intervention of The Duck Avenger, Uno, and Xadhoom. The ship where Zoster is is destroyed by Xadhoom, with the Duck Avenger saving Angus just in time.

However, this isn’t the end of Zoster. In PKNA #15 Motore/Azione (Set/Action) we find both Zondag and Zoster are alive and well, after having regressed to spore state to survive in space until they were rescued by the Evronian empire and artificially accelerated back into adulthood (though Zoster keeps his bionic eye). In this story, the Evronians kidnap the cast of the soap opera “Anxieties” (which, according to the Evronians, channels the audience’s emotions) in the republic of Providencia, Central America. The plan fails thanks to the Duck Avenger, and Zoster activates the self-destruction of the Evronian base, being seemingly caught by the explosion.

Zoster is a cunning and dangerous adversary, always looking for new ways to increase his own power, even at the expense of his people. He is a powerful foe, but thankfully has been thwarted time and time again by the Duck Avenger.

Zugor of “Tarzan II”

In Disney’s 2005 animated feature film Tarzan II, Zugor is the deuteragonist and an old hermit ape living in a hollow tree on Dark Mountain. He is the “monster” feared by Young Tarzan and almost all the animals, even Sabor. He claims he is alone because he got old and unable to keep up with his migrating family. However, when Tarzan tells the gorilla he is a danger to his own family, Zugor is rattled by this revelation.

Tarzan blackmails Zugor into helping him figure out what he is; in return, Tarzan will not tell anyone he is the “monster”. As time passes throughout the film, Zugor grows fond of Tarzan after he builds him a nest, even letting him be a “Zugor-in training feeling sorry for him that Tarzan felt he didn’t belong anywhere.” When Tarzan accidentally reveals Zugor’s secret, he is angry and hurt at the betrayal, which results in his tree getting destroyed by Kago and Uto. He later comes to Tarzan’s rescue with a vine for him to use to terrorize the two brothers.

While Tarzan deals with them, Zugor trades insults with Mama Gunda, which ends with him accidentally saying that she has beautiful eyes, causing them to become enamored with each other. After the fight, Gunda and her boys leave to live with the Zugor and fix his tree. When Kago and Uto start whining about having to fix the tree, Zugor tells them not to argue with their mother, and promptly replied to their stuttering with several “Boo-hoo for you’s to put them in their place.”

Zutho of “The Legend of Tarzan”

Zutho is a minor antagonist from The Legend of Tarzan episode, “Tarzan and the Face From the Past”. He is a shady mandrill that Tarzan, Terk, and Tantor first encountered as kids at the forbidden side of the river.

While Tarzan teaches Zutho and his friends how to make spears, a fire broke out and nearly destroyed the jungle but the rain put it out. Tarzan blamed himself and ended up in Zutho’s debt. Several years later, Zutho resurfaces in order to get Tarzan to fulfill his favor into dealing with some annoying howler monkeys that were keeping him and his friends up at night.

With help from Jane, Terk, and Tantor, Tarzan did the right thing and admitted what happened the day of the fire to Kala, who then processed to punish Zutho.

Zutho is a conniving mandrill who first appears in the episode “Tarzan and the Face from the Past”. He befriends Tarzan and his friends, but only so he can manipulate them into owing him a favor.

Years later, he resurfaces and tries to get Tarzan to help him get rid of some howler monkeys that are bothering him and his friends. Tarzan initially agrees, but then has a change of heart. With the help of his friends, he stands up to Zutho and tells him off. Kala ends up punishing him for his actions.
