Bassam and I have vowed to make this year our healthiest year yet as we begin to start thinking about family planning. Each month we’ve started incorporating one healthy habit in an attempt tocreate a healthier lifestyle. One of the first healthy habits we incorporated was to switch our breakfast with a healthy smoothie most mornings.

I was inspired to make this change after reading this book by nutritionist Kelly LeVeque. She swears by having a morning smoothie packed full of protein, fiber, fat, and greens {she calls this The Fab Four} to balance your blood sugar and keep you full until lunch. I also wanted to make our smoothies nutrient dense, which is why I pack them full of collagen peptides and superfoods.

Each smoothie recipe includes different superfoods to provide a variety of health benefits, but I use Further Food collagen peptides in each one. I’ve started taking collagen peptides daily and I find adding them to my smoothies to be the easiest way to remember to have it. Plus it’s a great form of pure protein.

In case you’re not familiar with collagen, it’s the most abundant source of protein in our bodies that makes up 70% of skin and connective tissue. Starting in our early twenties, our bodies start producing less collagen which can lead to wrinkles, saggy skin, joint stiffness, and weaker bones over time. Adding collagen peptides to your diet is a great way to reverse aging from the inside out by improving your joint and bone health and giving your nails, hair, and skin a beauty boost! {You can get 10% off my favorite collagen peptide here}

Bassam is really picky with smoothies and hates the taste of greens and superfoods in them. I had to play around with smoothie combinations until I could figure out ones that Bassam would actually enjoy drinking. That wasn’t easy because in order to keep these smoothies healthy and not have a blood sugar spike, I had to keep the fruit limited. If you find that there isn’t enough fruit in them for you, feel free to increase it a bit until you find your happy spot.

These three smoothies are recipes that both Bassam and I love and I hope you will enjoy too!

Our Favorite Healthy Smoothie Recipes

1. Matcha Mango Smoothie Recipe

This is my favorite of the three smoothies! It’s one of my go-to recipes and I never get sick of it. It’s one of Bassam’s favorites as well, which is surprising because he doesn’t like matcha. I absolutely love the mango matcha combination and find this smoothie to be so creamy and satisfying.

2. Chocolate Cherry Smoothie Recipe

This smoothie seriously tastes like dessert! It’s so thick, creamy, chocolatey, and sweet- you’ll never believe it’s healthy! I always feel like I’m having a treat for breakfast when I make this smoothie. This one is also Bassam’s favorite.

If I’m craving a sweet treat, sometimes I’ll make this as a smoothie bowl and top it with cacao nibs. Just use a little less milk to get a thick enough consistency for a bowl.

3. Acai Green Smoothie

The least sweet of the bunch, this one has a “healthier” taste, but it’s still so good! Packed chock full of super foods, you’ll feel victorious drinking this smoothie and have an energy high that’ll keep you buzzing all morning.

Why Futher Food Collagen?

3 Healthy and Delicious Breakfast Smoothie Recipes (19)

I’ve experimented with various collagen peptides and Further Food is my current favorite brand. It’s odorless and unflavored and dissolves perfectly in any type of liquid. I’ve tried others which can sometimes smell funky or have a weird consistency, but I haven’t had any of those issues with Futher Food. I don’t have any concerns using it because it’s extremely high quality and sustainable sourced from 100% South American pasture raised, grass-fed bovine hide.

Besides the collagen peptides being superior to the others I’ve tried, I also just really love the brand. The company was founded by 3 women with experience with chronic illnesses. As they became their own health advocates and started changing their lifestyles, they also created a community platform for others interested in holistic health. You’ll notice their website offers a wealth of information from holistic health experts and various health challenges. A portion of the proceeds are donated tofund chronic illness and healthy eating programs.

Many of you have asked me what differences I’ve noticed since I’ve started using Futher Food collagen peptides. My nails are usually very brittle and break easily, but they’ve been much stronger thanks to the collagen peptides. I’ve also noticed faster hair growth and my hair is a bit fuller. Finally, I’ve started experiencing slightly less knee pain, but I’m going to increase my daily intake from 1 scoop to 2 scoops to see if I notice more of a difference.

I currently have this tub that I use daily and these travel size stick packs for when we are traveling.

The Best Blender for Your Smoothies:

Any high speed blender will work! This is similar to the one we have. If you have limited counter space, this single smoothie blender is a great choice. This one is pricey but the best I’ve ever tested. It makes the perfect smoothie bowls because it doesn’t need much liquid to get the job done.
