Made this tonight. Used cod instead of halibut. As long as the fish does not over cook and dry out this is a good dish. Keeper for us on busy nights.

Looks yummy and easy. I question that you can call these oven-fried tho since you are pan frying the fillets first thus defeating the whole healthier for you aspect. I guess it's still better than deep-frying tho. I will be using this panko/fresh herb dredge soon but with additional spices based off of other reviews!

I would give this recipe 4 1/2 stars if I could. Very tasty but a tad bit dry. Even my 11 year old, who asks to put barbecue sauce on all fish, ate it up!

We thought this was very good!! I used tilapia because it's cheaper & what we always have on hand. After reading other reviews, I doubled the herbs & spices. I used lemon pepper instead of black pepper. My pan wasn't cooking the fish as brown as I would have liked, so I reduced the oven temp to 425 & baked for about 10 minutes.

Really easy and really, really good. I wouldn't hesitate to serve to guests. Halibut isn't cheap, but worth it once in awhile.

I made this for dinner and received rave reviews it is light and delicious! I ended up adding sage and tarragon to the bread crumbs before I realized I had basil - then I added that too. When I was putting the fish in the oven I threw in 2 heads of broccoli to experiment and it turned out great. I finished this off with mashed potatoes and for dessert tres leches cake. Everyone is full (stuffed) and happy!

Absolutely love this...and I was never a big fish fan! I added about 1/4 cup grated Parmesan to the breadcrumb mixture. Fantastick!

So awesome!!! I skipped the flour part and just dipped the fish into the egg then repeated, and it was FABULOUS!!! I also skipped the oven part and just cooked it on the stove in the skillet.

Use cod since my store didn't have any halibut. Sprinkled the cod with a little "Old Bay" seasoning before dredging in the flour. Decided to cook totally on the cooktop instead of the oven (too hot in Texas to turn on the oven right now). Browned it well on both sides and cooked for about 10 minutes total. Very good flavor and loved the crunchy topping with the panko! Served with a dill/lemon tartar sauce.

My family loved this dish including my 8 year old. I will definatly be making it again for dinner. I used tilapia instead of halibut, so I'm sure it made a difference, but it was still very good.

Looked gorgeous but can we say BLAND! Followed every step exactly, the fish didn't pick up any flavor. None of the 7 people I fed it to liked it at all. The dogs enjoyed it though! If I were to do an oven fried panko recipe again, I would not use flour or egg. I would instead have gone with my gut and used a chicken broth with melted butter and crushed garlic to dip the fish in instead.

I used sole instead of halibut and since sole is very thin...I just did a shallow pan fry. It cooks very fast about 2 minutes on each side on med-med high heat. Seasoned just as the recipe called for and made with new potatoes with butter, garlic and dill and a side of broccoli. It was fast and delicious! Will make again using the sole.

I used flounder instead of halibut, so am sure that made a difference (flounder is so thin), but even my fish-hating husband thought that this was "pretty good." Has ingredients that I always have on hand, so this may become my new go-to for fixing fish on a weeknight!

I used Chilean sea bass and it was delicious! The crunchy texture of the crust paired well with the oiliness of the fish! I used whole wheat panko & flour, and roasted garlic. I also finished baking this in the oven instead of broiling. I served this with the recommended potatoes and steamed broccoli, (both also delicious). I would make this again using the sea bass for sure, and would definitely serve this to company.

My kids never liked eating fish until I started making this years ago when I found the recipe in CL magazine. Now it's a family favorite. I usually make it with Talipia, but really almost any fish will do. Cod is also nice. This is also one of the few fish meals that works well as leftovers. I go a little heavier on all the herbs and sometimes add some grated Romano cheese to the mixture which adds a nice flavor. A little homemade tarter sauce for dipping and we're all set. All-around great recipe!

Made this as directed but used tilapia instead of halibut. Found it kind of bland and dry (fish was not overcooked). We wouldn't make it again.

Thanks for the hints -- also doubled the fresh herbs & garlic (why do they call for onion powder when everything else is fresh?) in a fine chop. Had four separate coating stages (flour, eggs, herbs, crumbs), otherwise cooked to recipe. The halibut was great. Also made the recommended vinaigrette potatoes with one change. After boiling the potatoes, sprayed them with olive oil & baked at 450 for 25min, turning once. Very good dinner.

Wonderful! This was my first time attempting to make any kind of fish at home, so I was really nervous, especially since my husband and I aren't huge fish eaters, but it was excellent. I did double the herbs as suggested and really enjoyed the crunchiness of the panko. Would be great with a garlic herb sauce, or something to that effect.

I really wanted to love this. I used tilapia and halibut would've been better. I doubled the spices as suggested. It crusted nicely and family ate all of it. I also cooked it entirely in the pan; no oven necessary. I forgot to salt and pepper the fish before breading and it definitely needed that. Will make again maybe with a different fish. Served with fresh corn and green beans.

do not cook as long as the recipe suggests. Otherwise, it turned out just as pictured. I actually think the fish could be finished in the pan. also, more cleanup than I prefer.

Outstanding, healthy, and easy recipe! My husband says this is his favorite fish recipe of all time. Panko crumbs are the secret to making this extra crunchy. Definitely worthy of a dinner party feature. Serve with roasted red potatoes and green beans.
